    Binka le Breton

    Thursday, February 7, 2008, 10:34 PM [General]

I was lucky enough to go a talk the other day by Binka le Breton who is a sustainable development activist and author who lives outside of the Brazilian Amazon. She has written many books on development and human rights in the changes the amazon region has experienced. She has come out with a new book called The Greatest Gift: The Courageous Life & Matyrdom of Sister Dorothy Stang which is the story of the life of Sister Dorothy Stang who was an activist on the part of farmers and land owners in the Amazon. Sister Stang was assisinated in Brazil in 2005.

Le Breton spoke about the challenges in creating sustainable development in developing countires like Brazil, highlighting human rights violations in the region, such as slavery and kidnapping. I though it was an interesting book so why not share it! She has written several books about Brazil which looked interesting as well.
